Service alert emails are sent when a host is down 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi all,

I would like to stop service alert emails being sent when
a host is down. The Nagios docs suggest that this is the normal behaviour but it is not what I am experiencing.

I have looked into service dependancies (Specialities menu
in NagiosQL) and seen suggestions on other forums regarding changing the host event handler to issue an external command of DISABLE_HOST_SVC_CHECKS when the host goes down (and ENABLE_HOST_SVC_CHECKS) when it comes back up.

These approaches seem somewhat involved so I'm sure that
I am missing something simple. Apologies if this is more of a Nagios question than a NaqiosQL question but I only seem to get 'this should just work' responses when on the Nagios forums.

Any advice will be gratefully received.
Thanks for reading!

Edit - Sorry, this should have gone in the 'Nagios Related' category, I can't see a way to move this thread
