How to join the Development Team

We need you!

So... you think NagiosQL is a great project and you would like to be a part of it?
Hey, you do not have to necessarily write code! You also could be a tester, translator, supporter or all of it. We really need a helping hand!

You modified the source a little bit and created a nifty new feature and/or you would like to do future development in this project? We love to hear that!

How to become a NagiosQL Developer/Translator/Team Member?

Common Requirements

  • Be a member of a team.
  • Be nice & polite.
  • Communicate much and often with the other team mates. Show up to the development meetings.
  • Share your thoughts. Don't be single minded, discuss your ideas with the other team members.
  • Real life comes first - but if you need a longer time-out, give us a short notice for how long you will be gone.
  • Developers come and go in an open source project - that is absolutely normal. However if you leave the project please give us a notice and tell us how far you are, what you did and if there are things still to do so that someone else can pick up your work.

First Steps

If you agree to the above points please follow these next steps:
  1. Create a personal account on this website
  2. Create a personal account on sourceforge.net
  3. Make sure you subscribe to the nagiosql-developer mailing list and if you want to receive notifies of any source code changes please subscribe to the nagiosql-subversion list
  4. If you use a Windows System get the Subversion client TortoiseSVN to access the source code in the repository on sf.net. You can download it from http://tortoisesvn.sourceforge.net/downloads
  5. Contact one of the project admins This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by email and provide the following information:
    1. A short resume (so we can see what your background is)
    2. Tell us why you would like to work in the NagiosQL project ('I am bored to death!', 'I like your style...')
    3. Tell us in what area you would like to help (coding, patching, support etc.)
  6. Rouven Homann will get back to you as soon as possible. He will give you an introduction and will provide more information about the next steps.
